Artist Statement
For me abstract art has no limits. I am always amazed at what takes shape when experimenting with lines, shapes, and color. Painting abstracts is vital to please not only me, but ultimately the viewer. Abstract art is suggestive; thus, viewer opinions vary. I smile at their comments and delight in what they see. I find abstract art stimulating, as I am in awe with each and every finish piece.
I am in my element when I paint. I find it calming. I am a self-taught visual artist. My paintings are a combination of a controlled yet energetic sense of movement. I paint best in a serene environment filled with relaxing music and a glass of wine. This makes for a productive evening.
To enhance my skills, I take classes at MIAD and MPS Recreation. Watercolor, acrylics, color-pencils, and crayons are my medium. My objects are faces, flowers, nature scenes, and shapes. My current interest is Pour Art painting. I plan to create multiple pour art paintings for public display.
In addition to this website, my artwork is shown at various venues such as the Wehr Nature Center, Mitchell Park Domes, Celtic MKE Center, Oktober Fest, and in the Art Gallery at Alverno College. In my spare time I teach abstract art to youth, teens and adults at Hamilton High School.
